Sports Minute: Alamo Bowl a chance for Utah, Texas to shake disappointment

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The Alamo Bowl is a chance for both Texas and No. 12 Utah to leave behind the disappointing end to their regular seasons. Utah saw it hopes for the College Football Playoff disappear in a Pac-12 championship game loss to Oregon. Texas' Big 12 title hopes faded by late October as the Longhorns struggled to a 7-5 finish. Both programs could use a win on New Year's Eve as a chance to spring into 2020. Texas will have interim offensive and defensive coordinators after coach Tom Herman made staff changes after the regular season.
