Sports Minute: Maitre scores 14 to lift FAU past UTEP 59-56
BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Richardson Maitre posted 14 points as Florida Atlantic extended its home win streak to nine games, narrowly beating UTEP 59-56. Madiaw Niang gave the Owls the lead on a three-point play with 41 seconds left and Maitre extended the lead with a pair of free throws with 18 seconds to go. Bryson Williams missed a 3-point attempt for the Miners that would have tied it with 8 seconds to go. Karlis Silins had 12 points for Florida Atlantic (10-5, 2-0 Conference USA). Efe Odigie had 13 points for the Miners (9-6, 0-2).
