WESLACO – A state senator is helping homeowners heavily affected by the June flooding by listening to their concerns.

It’s estimated over 2,300 homes were destroyed following the recent rainfall in the Rio Grande Valley.

State Senator Eddie Lucio, who spoke to flood victims on Monday, says he will do his best “by working with local units of government” to help organizations like Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity says they’re checking on flood victims to help them assess damages in their homes through their disaster relief program.
