RIO GRANDE VALLEY- This weekend, you can save money on emergency items that may come in handy during severe weather.

The Texas Comptroller's Office has announced a tax-free holiday for emergency preparation supplies.

Sales tax will not be applied to items like portable generators, batteries and first aid kits.

CHANNEL 5'S Cecilia Gutierrez spoke to residents who said it's never too early to be prepared.
