Summer Food Programs Available for RGV Children
WESLACO – Students are out of school and some may have difficulty gaining access to a meal. However, there are locations around the Rio Grande Valley offering summer meal programs.
The United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service created a list of locations offering nutritious free meals for children and teens 18 and younger.
USDA gives state agencies funding to administer summer meal programs. But sponsors, such as schools, local government agencies and faith-based and nonprofit organizations, help put them together. The meals are then administered at specific sites that are deemed safe and are supervised.
