MISSION - The Texas Education Agency is making it easier for parents to get an inside look at how their child’s school district is being run.

The state agency is releasing batches of reports in what they call “snapshots”. The information offers parents a good overview of how school districts and charter schools are performing.

Mission CISD director of public relations and marketing Craig Verley explained what kind of information parents can expect to see on the TEA’s snapshot.

“That looks at everything from what you student population looks like, what your staff population looks like,” he said. “(It’s) a very boiled down version of some accountability data, tax information in terms of property tax information and budget information; a very concise type of report. That’s why they refer to it as a snapshot.”

Varley said any parent will have a pretty clear idea about what is happening at the district level. However, the reports don’t have any information about what is taking place at the campus level.

If parents are looking to see how a specific school is performing, the TEA has those reports available online as well
