The weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for April 17 and also available on the internet at http://www.txfishing.com :

CENTRAL

AUSTIN: Water lightly stained; 67-74 degrees; 0.66 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on white/chartreuse spinnerbaits, Texas rigs and chrome/black Rat-L-Traps. Sunfish are fair on red wigglers. Catfish are fair to good on cut or live baitfish and nightcrawlers.

BASTROP: Water stained; 61-65 degrees. Black bass are good on red/white spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait, liver, shrimp, and minnows. Yellow catfish are slow.

BELTON: Water stained; 62-66 degrees; 0.50 feet high. Black bass are good on Rat-L-Traps and spinnerbaits. Hybrid striper are good on spoons. White bass are fair on minnows and Li'l Fishies. Crappie are excellent on minnows around structure under lights at night. Channel and blue catfish are good on hot dogs. Yellow catfish are good on trotlines and throwlines baited with live perch.

BROWNWOOD: Water stained; 58-62 degrees; 0.03 feet high. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and white or shad Li'l Fishies in 5-12 feet. Channel catfish are good on juglines and trotlines baited with cheesebait and cut shad. Blue catfish are good on juglines baited with prepared baits in 15-20 feet Yellow catfish are slow.

BUCHANAN: Water stained; 59-63 degrees; 2.00 feet low. Black bass are fair on pumpkin jigs, jerkbaits, and Carolina rigged lizards along break lines in 15-25 feet. Striped bass are good trolling white/chartreuse striper jigs and crankbaits. White bass are fair on slabs, and trolling crankbaits at the mouths of creeks. Crappie are good on minnows over brush piles in 12-15 feet. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

CANYON LAKE: Water stained; 58-62 degrees; 0.70 feet high. Black bass are fair on buzzbaits, watermelon jigs, and watermelon red soft plastic worms in 20-25 feet. Striped bass are fair trolling white striper jigs. White bass are fair jigging Pirk Minnows in the main river channel. Smallmouth bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

COLEMAN: Water stained; 60-64 degrees; 0.29 feet low. Black bass are good on chartreuse soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Hybrid striper are fair on silver striper jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs. Channel catfish are good on nightcrawlers, shrimp, and cut bait. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLORADO RIVER: (At Colorado Bend State Park) No report available.

FAYETTE: Water stained. Black bass are fair on green pumpkin Carolina rigged soft plastics off points. Channel and blue catfish are fair on shrimp.

GRANBURY: Water stained; 59-63 degrees; 0.33 feet low. Black bass are fair on green pumpkin soft plastics and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Catfish are fair on frozen shrimp, liver, and stinkbait.

GRANGER: Water stained; 58-62 degrees; 0.70 feet high. Black bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

LBJ: Water stained; 61-65 degrees; 0.81 feet low. Black bass are fair on watermelon crankbaits and spinnerbaits along ledges. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair jigging blue tube jigs and Pirk Minnows. Crappie are slow. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

NAVARRO MILLS: Water stained; 60-64 degrees; 2.33 feet high. Black bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

PROCTOR: Water stained; 62-66 degrees; 0.22 feet high. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on live shad in 20-30 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

SOMERVILLE: Water murky; 63-67 degrees; 0.17 feet high. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

STILLHOUSE HOLLOW: Water stained; 62-66 degrees; 0.29 feet high. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are fair on minnows and spoons. Crappie are good on minnows and white tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

TRAVIS: Water stained; 61-65 degrees; 0.20 feet low. Black bass are good on brown jigs, smoke grubs, and crawfish crankbaits in 8-20 feet. Striped bass are fair on white spoons in 20-40 feet. White bass are fair on white spoons and chrome crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

WALTER E. LONG: Water stained. Black bass are fair on watermelon soft plastics and Rat-L-Traps. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

WHITNEY: Water stained; 60-64 degrees; 2.82 feet low. Black bass are fair on chartreuse spinnerbaits and Carolina rigged soft plastics in 10-25 feet. Striped bass are fair drifting live bait in 20-35 feet. White bass are fair on Pirk Minnows and slabs. Crappie are fair on minnows over brush piles. Catfish are slow.

NORTHEAST

ATHENS: Water clear; 66-71 degrees; 0.58 feet high. Black bass are fair on buzzbaits, Flukes and Texas rigged craws. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

BENBROOK: Water stained; 64-68 degrees; 1.14 feet high. Black bass are good on squarebill crankbaits, shakeyhead worms and Texas rigged creature baits. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are fair on slabs. Catfish are good on trotlines.

BOB SANDLIN: Water stained; 65-69 degrees; 0.84 feet high. Black bass are fair on weightless Senkos, buzzbaits and Texas rigged creature baits. Crappie are good on minnows. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

BONHAM: Water lightly stained; 64-69 degrees; 0.39 feet high. Black bass are good on Texas rigged craws, hollow body frogs, and shallow crankbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

CEDAR CREEK: Water lightly stained; 65-70 degrees, 0.14 feet high. Black bass are fair on shakeyhead worms, squarebill crankbaits and Texas rigged craws. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on slabs.

COOPER: Water stained; 67-72 degrees; 1.54 feet high. Black bass are slow on Flukes, Texas rigged craws and topwaters. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Hybrid striper and white bass are good on slabs.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN: Water lightly stained; 65-69 degrees; 0.29 feet high. Black bass are good on swim jigs, shakeyhead worms, and shallow crankbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on trotlines.

FAIRFIELD: Water lightly stained. Black bass are good on Texas rigged craws, Flukes and spinnerbaits. No report on other species.

FORK: Water lightly stained; 68-71 degrees; 0.03 feet high. Black bass are fair on swimbaits, hollow body frogs and weightless Senkos. White and yellow bass are good on slabs. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are good on trotlines.

GRAPEVINE: Water stained; 65-69 degrees; 1.31 feet high. Black bass are good on squarebill crankbaits, shakeyhead worms and Texas rigged worms. White bass and hybrid bass are good on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

WRIGHT PATMAN: Water stained; 67-70 degrees; 6.61 feet high. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged craws, hollow body frogs and buzzbaits. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

SOUTH

AMISTAD: Water stained; 64-68 degrees; 24.54 feet low. Black bass are fair on Senkos, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and soft plastic lizards in 10-25 feet. Striped bass are fair on slabs, crankbaits, and Sassy Shad. White bass are fair on slabs and Li'l Fishies. Catfish are good on prepared baits over baited holes. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

BRAUNIG: Water stained. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are fair on silver striper jigs. Redfish are slow. Channel catfish are fair on shrimp and live bait near the dam. Blue catfish are slow.

CALAVERAS: Water stained. Black bass are good on green pumpkin soft plastics and crankbaits near the dam. Striped bass are good on spoons and jigs near the dam. Redfish are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on liver, shrimp, and cheesebait. Yellow catfish are slow.

CHOKE CANYON: Water stained; 62-66 degrees; 13.94 feet low. Black bass are good on white spinnerbaits and heavy jigs in grass. White bass are good on minnows and Li'l Fishies. Crappie are fair on minnows. Drum are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and live perch. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLETO CREEK: Water stained; 64 degrees in the main lake, 90 degrees at the hot water discharge, 67-71 degrees in main lake; 0.09 feet high. Black bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on cut bait and shrimp in 8-10 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

CORPUS CHRISTI LAKE: Water off color; 68-75 degrees; 0.11 feet high. Black bass are fair to good on white chatterbaits, Texas rigs and shad pattern shallow running crankbaits. White bass are fair on slabs. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and live or dead shad.

FALCON: Water stained; 63-67 degrees; 26.39 feet low. Black bass are good on green pumpkin soft plastics and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on frozen shrimp and cut bait. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

TEXANA: Water stained; 69-77 degrees; 0.81 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on Texas rigs, chatterbaits and Senkos. Crappie are slow to fair on live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

SOUTHEAST

CONROE: Water stained; 61-65 degrees; 0.42 feet low. Black bass are good on pumpkinseed soft plastic worms and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are fair on silver striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are slow.

GIBBONS CREEK: Water stained. Black bass are good on chartreuse soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are good on liver, cut bait, and stinkbait.

HOUSTON COUNTY: Water stained; 64-68 degrees; 0.39 feet high. Black bass to 4 pounds are fair on swim baits and crankbaits along the north side of the lake. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on live minnows. Bream are good on live worms. Channel and blue catfish to 7 pounds are good on juglines baited with perch and shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

LIVINGSTON: Water stained; 61-65 degrees; 0.25 feet high. Black bass are good on chartreuse crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics. Striped bass are slow. White bass are good on minnows and Li'l Fishies upriver. Crappie are fair on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shrimp and shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

SAM RAYBURN: Water stained; 62-66 degrees; 0.64 feet high. Black bass are good on chartreuse/black soft plastics, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. White bass are good on live minnows and watermelon jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and green tube jigs. Bream are fair on worms. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers, liver, and cut bait.

STEINHAGEN: 0.52 feet low. No report available.

TOLEDO BEND: Water stained; 62-66 degrees; 1.99 feet low. Black bass are good on watermelon spinnerbaits, soft plastics, and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Bream are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on liver and hot dogs. Yellow catfish are slow.

PANHANDLE

GREENBELT: Water off color; 57-67 degrees; 36.16 feet low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigs and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on live minnows under a float. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

MACKENZIE: Water stained; 56-68 degrees; 78.91 feet low. Black bass are fair on white chatterbaits, Texas rigs and chrome Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait.

MEREDITH: Water fairly clear; 52-65 degrees; 49.08 feet low. No reports on black or smallmouth bass. There are a few reports of walleye being caught on live bait and artificials. Bream are slow. Channel catfish are being caught in limited numbers.

WEST

ALAN HENRY: Water clear main lake and 58 degrees, stained up the river and 64 degrees; 2.41 feet low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigs and shaky heads with Z-Man Finesse TRDs. Crappie bite is moving shallow. Catfishing is poor.

ARROWHEAD: Water stained; 58-66 degrees; 1.00 feet high. Black bass are fair to good on shallow running crankbaits, Texas rigs and white spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait and nightcrawlers.

COLORADO CITY: Water fairly clear; 59-67 degrees; 12.76 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on white chatterbaits, Texas rigs and 5-inch green pumpkin Senkos. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

FORT PHANTOM HILL: Water stained; 58-67 degrees; 0.66 feet high. Black bass are fair to good on shakyheads, Texas rigs and shallow running crankbaits. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair to good on live and cut bait.

HUBBARD CREEK: Water stained; 58-65 degrees; 0.01 feet high. Black bass are fair to good on spinnerbaits, Texas rigs and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on live and cut bait.

NASWORTHY: Water stained; 61-68 degrees; 0.76 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on and Texas rigs, shakyheads and squarebill crankbaits. Crappie are fair to good on jigs and live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on stinkbait, live bait and nightcrawlers.

OAK CREEK: Water stained; 59-66 degrees; 0.18 feet high. Black bass are fair on white/chartreuse spinnerbaits, Texas rigs and Senkos with a 1/8-oz. weight. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on live and cut bait.

O.H. IVIE: Water stained; 58-67 degrees; 15.87 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on 5-inch Yum Dingers, Texas rigs and chatterbaits. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on cut and live bait.

POSSUM KINGDOM: Water fairly clear; 63-69 degrees; 0.10 feet high. Black bass are fair on weightless flukes, shakyheads, Texas rigs and shad pattern spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows with a split shop. White bass are fair to good on tail spinners. Striped bass are fair to good on live shad. Catfish are fair to good on live and cut bait.

SPENCE: Water off color; 59-67 degrees; 36.55 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on buzzbaits, Texas rigs and squarebill crankbaits. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows under a cork. Catfish are fair on cut bait and nightcrawlers.

STAMFORD: Water stained to muddy; 58-65 degrees; 2.55 feet high. Black bass are fair to good on white spinnerbaits, chatterbaits and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair on live minnows and marabou jigs. White bass are fair on slabs. Blue catfish are fair on cut and live bait.

SWEETWATER: Water stained; 57-68 degrees; 0.16 feet high. This lake is currently experiencing a fish kill due to golden alga. Biologists are monitoring the situation and will post updates as they become available. Fish populations have been substantially reduced by the golden alga blooms.

WHITE RIVER: Water stained; 55-67 degrees; 22.83 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on Senkos, Texas rigs and shakyheads. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on cut and live bait.

COASTAL

NORTH SABINE: Trout are fair to good on the Louisiana shoreline on topwaters and Corkies. Flounder are fair on jigs tipped with shrimp around marsh drains. Redfish are good in the marsh on topwaters and Gulps.

SOUTH SABINE: Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad. Sheepshead and black drum are good at the jetty on live shrimp. Trout are fair to good while wading coves and bayous on topwaters.

BOLIVAR: Trout are fair to good on the south shoreline on Litl' Johns and Down South Lures. Black drum, sand trout and redfish are good at Rollover Pass.

TRINITY BAY: Trout are good for drifters working slicks on MirrOlures, Down South Lures and Gamblers. Trout are fair to good on deep shell on Gulps and live bait.

EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are good on the south shoreline on Bass Assassins, MirrOlures and topwaters. Whiting and sand trout are good on the edge of the Intracoastal on fresh shrimp. Trout are good on live bait around the wells.

WEST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good on live shrimp on reefs. Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs. Trout are beginning to show in the surf and at the jetty when the wind allows

TEXAS CITY: Trout are fair to good on Dollar Reef on live shrimp and croakers. Redfish are fair in Moses Lake on mullet and shrimp.

FREEPORT: Trout are fair to good at San Luis Pass on shrimp. Sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs in Christmas Bay. Trout and redfish are good at the jetties on live shrimp and finger mullet.

EAST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are good for drifters on live shrimp over humps and scattered shell. Redfish are fair to good on the edge of the Intracoastal on crabs and mullet. Trout are good for waders on topwaters.

WEST MATAGORDA BAY: Redfish are fair to good on the edge of Oyster Lake on shrimp and crabs. Trout are fair on shell and grass on soft plastics. Black drum are fair to good at Shell Island and Cut Off Flats on shrimp.

PORT O'CONNOR: Trout and redfish are good on topwaters over sand and grass in the guts in San Antonio Bay. Trout and redfish are fair for drifters working the back lakes with live shrimp. Trout are fair at the jetty on shrimp.

ROCKPORT: Trout are fair to good in the guts and channels on free-lined shrimp. Trout are fair over grass while drifting with live shrimp. Trout are fair to good on the outside of the islands on shrimp.

PORT ARANSAS: Redfish are fair to good at East Flats and around Dagger Island on shrimp and crabs. Trout, redfish and sheepshead are fair to good at the jetty on shrimp and croakers. Trout are fair at Super Flats on topwaters.

CORPUS CHRISTI: Trout are fair to good on the edge of the spoils on Gulps and live shrimp. Redfish are good in the potholes on shrimp. Trout are good for drifters working live shrimp over sand and grass.

BAFFIN BAY: Trout are fair to good on sand and grass on topwaters and plastics. Trout are good at night in the Land Cut on live shrimp. Redfish are fair to good on the edge of the ICW on DOA Shrimp.

PORT MANSFIELD: Trout are good on topwaters around sand and grass and along the edge of the ICW on Gulps. Redfish are fair to good while drifting pot holes with topwaters and Gulps.

SOUTH PADRE: Trout are good around the spoil islands, channel edges and color changes on DOA Shrimp and live shrimp. Redfish are fair while drifting sand and grass on Gulps and live shrimp under a popping cork.

PORT ISABEL: Trout and redfish are fair to good on the flats on live shrimp. Redfish are fair to good in South Bay on topwaters and Gulps. Trout are fair to good while wading humps and guts on Corkies.
