The weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for July 17 and also available on the internet at http://www.txfishing.com :

CENTRAL

AUSTIN: Water stained; 82-88 degrees; 0.74 feet low. Black bass are fair on shakyheads, Texas rigs and jigs. Sunfish are fair to good on cut nightcrawlers and dough bait. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and prepared bait.

BASTROP: Water stained; 81-85 degrees. Black bass are good on watermelon soft plastic worms with chartreuse tails. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on cheesebait, shrimp, and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

BELTON: Water murky; 80-84 degrees; 0.60 feet high. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits and soft plastic worms early and late. Hybrid striper are fair on chrome slabs with bucktails. White bass are fair but small on minnows and chrome slabs with bucktails at night. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on trotlines baited with snails and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are fair on juglines baited with live perch.

BROWNWOOD: Water stained; 79-83 degrees; 0.17 feet low. Black bass are fair on Rat-L-Traps and crankbaits. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and Li'l Fishies in 10-15 feet. Channel catfish slow. Blue catfish are excellent on juglines baited with cut perch and shad in 10-12 feet Yellow catfish are good on trotlines baited with perch and goldfish in 8-18 feet.

BUCHANAN: Water murky; 79-83 degrees; 0.02 feet high. Black bass are good on watermelon topwaters, chartreuse Whacky Sticks, and Texas rigged green pumpkin Scoundrel worms on secondary points and ledges in 10-22 feet. Striped bass are fair on small Rat-L-Traps and trolling crankbaits in 1-5 feet. White bass are fair on Pirk Minnows and Li'l Fishies over rock piles in 15-20 feet. Crappie are good on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs over brush piles. Channel catfish are good on live bait and stinkbait. Yellow and blue catfish are good on juglines and trotlines baited with perch upriver.

CANYON LAKE: Water stained; 80-84 degrees; 1.20 feet high. Black bass are fair on Shad Raps, Rat-L-Traps, and buzzbaits upriver near laydowns along banks in 5-10 feet early and late. Striped bass are fair on watermelon plum colored crankbaits on main lake points. White bass are fair on live bait. Smallmouth bass are fair on smoke grubs and watermelon tubes on jigheads in 8-18 feet. Crappie are fair on Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows upriver over brush piles in 12 feet. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with live bait.

COLEMAN: Water stained; 79-83 degrees; 0.40 feet low. Black bass are fair on chartreuse crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and soft plastics. Hybrid striper are fair on live shad. Crappie are fair on minnows over brush piles. Channel catfish are fair on trotlines baited with perch. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLORADO RIVER: (At Colorado Bend State Park) No report available.

FAYETTE: Water stained. Black bass are fair on pumpkinseed soft plastic worms and Rat-L-Traps in 10-22 feet. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and cut bait in 10-20 feet.

GRANBURY: Water stained; 80-84 degrees; 0.03 feet high. Black bass are fair on watermelon soft plastic worms, lizards, and crankbaits. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on minnows, slabs, and pet spoons. Crappie are fair on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait and frozen shrimp

GRANGER: Water murky; 82-86 degrees; 0.35 feet high. Black bass are fair on soft plastic worms and crankbaits. White bass are fair on slabs and spoons on points and shallow roadbeds. Crappie are very good on jigs tipped with Berkley Crappie Nibbles in 6-15 feet. Blue catfish are good on live fresh shad. Yellow catfish are good on live perch.

LBJ: Water stained; 81-85 degrees; 0.78 feet low. Black bass are good on watermelon soft plastic worms and topwaters, and on shad colored Rat-L-Traps along break lines in 5-15 feet early and late. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs over brush piles in 10 feet. Channel catfish are fair on minnows and prepared bait. Yellow and blue catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with live perch.

NAVARRO MILLS: Water murky; 83-87 degrees; 0.09 feet low. Black bass are good on topwaters along banks and near the boat ramps early and late. White bass are good on minnows and slabs. Crappie are good on minnows over brush piles and structure near the dam and the marina in 7-14 feet. Channel catfish are good on stinkbait. Blue catfish are fair on trotlines and juglines baited with perch and shad. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with perch and goldfish.

PROCTOR: Water murky; 79-83 degrees; 0.37 feet high. Black bass are fair on watermelon crankbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are good on silver striper jigs. White bass are good on minnows and Li'l Fishies. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines and juglines baited with live bait. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live bait.

SOMERVILLE: Water murky; 81-85 degrees; 9.35 feet high. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

STILLHOUSE HOLLOW: Water murky; 79-83 degrees; 0.23 feet high. Black bass are fair on shallow running crankbaits and topwaters. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies and pet spoons. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

TRAVIS: Water murky; 81-85 degrees; 0.59 feet low. Black bass are fair on black/chartreuse soft plastic worms and crankbaits in 10-20 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on live bait. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and nightcrawlers in 20-30 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

WALTER E. LONG: Water stained. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Hybrid striper are fair on silver striper jigs. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies. Crappie are fair on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait and shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

WHITNEY: Water murky; 80-84 degrees; 1.02 feet low. Black bass are fair on Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are fair on white striper jigs. White bass are fair on Li'l Fishies. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Catfish are good on stinkbait and shrimp.

NORTHEAST

ATHENS: Water clear; 84-87 degrees; 0.41 feet high. Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, topwaters and wacky rigged Senkos. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on trotlines and prepared bait.

BENBROOK: Water stained; 85-88 degrees; 1.90 feet high. Black bass are fair on football jigs, shallow crankbaits and Texas rigged creature baits. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

BOB SANDLIN: Water stained; 84-88 degrees; 0.04 feet high. Black bass are good on Flukes, shakyhead worms and Texas rigged craws. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on slabs. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

BONHAM: Water lightly stained; 84-87 degrees; 0.23 feet low. Black bass are good on Texas rigged creature baits, shallow crankbaits, and white buzzbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

BRIDGEPORT: Water lightly stained to stained; 84-88 degrees: 0.06 feet high. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged worms, weightless Senkos and shakyhead worms. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on slabs. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

CADDO: Water muddy; 85-89 degrees; 1.60 feet high. Black bass are good on Texas rigged craws, black buzzbaits and hollow body frogs. Crappie are fair on minnows and white jigs. Catfish are good on trotlines.

CEDAR CREEK: Water lightly stained; 84-87 degrees, 0.17 feet low. Black bass are slow on football jigs, Carolina rigged creature baits and shakyhead worms. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on slabs and topwaters.

COOPER: Water stained; 86-94 degrees; 0.09 feet high. Black bass are fair on shallow crankbaits, Texas rigged craws and wacky rigged Senkos. Crappie are fair on minnows. Hybrid striper and white bass are good on slabs.

EAGLE MOUNTAIN: Water lightly stained; 84-88 degrees; 0.01 feet low. Black bass are fair on football jigs, shakyhead worms and medium crankbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on trotlines.

FAIRFIELD: Water lightly stained. Black bass are good on Texas rigged creatures, bladed jigs and topwaters. No report on other species.

FORK: Water lightly stained; 85-88 degrees; 0.09 feet low. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged creature baits, football jigs and Flutter spoons. White and yellow bass are fair on slabs. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on trotlines.

GRAPEVINE: Water stained; 84-87 degrees; 3.86 feet high. Black bass are slow on squarebill crankbaits, bladed jigs and Texas rigged craws. White bass and hybrid bass are good on slabs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on trotlines and prepared bait.

WRIGHT PATMAN: Water stained to muddy; 85-89 degrees; 19.13 feet high. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged creature baits, hollow body frogs and Senkos. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines.

SOUTH

AMISTAD: Water stained; 88-92 degrees; 29.83 feet low. Black bass are good on topwaters, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, and soft plastics. Striped bass are fair on Red Fins and large topwaters. White bass are fair on crankbaits and small topwaters. Crappie are slow. Catfish are good on cheesebait, shrimp, and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines, droplines, and throwlines on live perch. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

BRAUNIG: Water stained. Black bass are fair on watermelon crankbaits and spinnerbaits near the dam. Striped bass are fair on silver and gold spoons near the dam. Redfish are good on perch and shad near the jetty. Channel and blue catfish are good on shrimp and stinkbait near the hot water discharge. Yellow catfish are slow.

CALAVERAS: Water stained. Black bass are fair on chartreuse/black crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are fair on silver striper jigs near the crappie wall. Redfish are good on live bait near the dam. Channel catfish are good on stinkbait and shad near the railroad trestle. Blue catfish are fair on live bait and cut bait. Yellow catfish are slow.

CHOKE CANYON: Water stained; 84-88 degrees; 14.68 feet low. Black bass are fair on shad colored crankbaits and watermelon soft plastic worms. Crappie are fair on minnows. Drum are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and prepared bait in 5-15 feet. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live perch.

COLETO CREEK: Water stained; 80 degrees in the main lake, 102 degrees at the hot water discharge, 87-91 degrees in main lake; 0.71 feet low. Black bass are fair on pumpkinseed soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits in 4-12 feet. White bass are fair on white tube jigs. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

CORPUS CHRISTI LAKE: Water off color; 79-86 degrees; 0.18 feet low. Black bass are good on Texas rigs, Carolina rigs and medium diving crankbaits. White bass are fair to good on live shad and slabs. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and live or dead shad.

FALCON: Water stained; 88-92 degrees; 31.70 feet low. Black bass are good on watermelon and June bug jigs in 8-12 feet. Striped bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and green tube jigs. Channel and blue catfish are good on cut bait and frozen shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.

TEXANA: Water stained; 79-86 degrees; 1.24 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on Texas rigs and squarebill crankbaits. Crappie are fair on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

SOUTHEAST

CONROE: Water stained; 83-87 degrees; 0.37 feet low. Black bass are good on chartreuse soft plastics, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits. Striped bass are fair on white striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows and green tube jigs over brush piles. Catfish are good on stinkbait and prepared bait.

GIBBONS CREEK: Water stained. Black bass are fair on chartreuse soft plastic worms, Rat-L-Traps, and crankbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and pink tube jigs. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers, cut bait, and shrimp.

HOUSTON COUNTY: Water stained; 86-90 degrees; 0.15 feet high. Black bass to 8 pounds are good on watermelon red swim jigs, topwaters, and dark blue soft plastics. Smallmouth bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows. Bream are good on live worms. Channel and blue catfish are good on shad and perch. Yellow catfish are slow.

LIVINGSTON: Water murky; 84-88 degrees; 0.06 feet low. Black bass are good on crankbaits. Striped bass are good but small on slabs, troll tubes, and pet spoons. White bass are good on pet spoons, troll tubes, and slabs. Crappie are good on minnows. Blue catfish are good on shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

SAM RAYBURN: Water stained; 85-89 degrees; 0.49 feet high. Black bass are fair on watermelon Rat-L-Traps and shad colored crankbaits. White bass are fair on minnows and Li'l Fishies. Crappie are good on minnows over brush piles in 15-30 feet. Bream are slow. Catfish are good on trotlines baited with live bait and liver.

STEINHAGEN: 1.19 feet low. No report available.

TOLEDO BEND: Water murky; 84-88 degrees; 1.52 feet low. Black bass are good on chartreuse soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Striped bass are fair on chartreuse striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows and Li'l Fishies. Crappie are good on minnows and white tube jigs over baited holes. Bream are good on crickets. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with shrimp and stinkbait in 20-30 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

PANHANDLE

GREENBELT: Water off color; 74-83 degrees; 35.34 feet low. Black bass are fair on squarebills, Texas rigs and shakyheads. Crappie are fair on split shot rigged live minnows. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and cut bait.

MACKENZIE: Water stained; 73-82 degrees; 78.60 feet low. Black bass are fair on finesse jigs, Texas rigs and shakyheads. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait and nightcrawlers.

MEREDITH: Water fairly clear; 72-79 degrees; 46.65 feet low. Black bass are fair on Texas rigs and jigs. No reports on smallmouth bass. There are a few reports of walleye being caught on live bait and artificials. Bream are fair to good on cut nightcrawlers and kernel corn. Channel catfish are good on cut bait and nightcrawlers.

WEST

ALAN HENRY: Water clear main lake and 84 degrees, stained up the river and 86 degrees; 1.61 feet low. Black bass are slow on small topwaters and spoons. Crappie are slow at night on minnows. Catfish are slow on punch bait and cut bait.

ARROWHEAD: Water stained; 74-83 degrees; 0.38 feet low. Black bass are fair on topwaters early, shakyheads and jigs. Crappie are fair on live minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on cut bait and nightcrawlers.

COLORADO CITY: Water stained; 78-84 degrees; 11.41 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on Texas rigs and squarebill crankbaits. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers.

FORT PHANTOM HILL: Water stained; 75-83 degrees; 0.29 feet high. Black bass are fair to good on medium running shad pattern crankbaits, Texas rigs and shakyheads. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows and jigs around deeper structure. Catfish are fair on cut shad and nightcrawlers.

HUBBARD CREEK: Water stained; 76-84 degrees; 0.14 feet high. Black bass are fair to good on Texas rigs, shakyheads and Carolina rigs. Crappie are fair on live minnows and jigs around deeper structure. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers, live and cut shad.

NASWORTHY: Water stained; 74-83 degrees; 0.82 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on Texas rigs, shakyheads and pumpkinseed jigs. Crappie are fair on jigs and live minnows. Catfish are fair on large crappie minnows and nightcrawlers.

OAK CREEK: Water stained; 74-82 degrees; 0.06 feet low. Black bass are fair on topwaters early and late, Texas rigs and jigs. Crappie are fair on split shot rigged live minnows. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers, live and cut shad.

O.H. IVIE: Water stained; 74-83 degrees; 7.31 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on squarebill crankbaits, Texas rigs and shakyhead rigged Trick Worms. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Catfish are fair on cut and live shad.

POSSUM KINGDOM: Water fairly clear; 73-81 degrees; 0.16 feet high. Black bass are fair on Texas rigs, drop shot rigs, Carolina rigs and jigs. Crappie are fair to good on split shot rigged live minnows and jigs around deeper structure. White bass are fair to good on tail spinners and live shad. Striped bass are fair to good on live shad and Sassy Shad. Catfish are good on live or dead shad and nightcrawlers.

SPENCE: Water off color; 74-83 degrees; 33.25 feet low. Black bass are fair to good on Texas rigs, shakyheads and split shot rigged Ring Fries. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows. Catfish are good on cut bait and nightcrawlers.

STAMFORD: Water stained to murky; 74-82 degrees; 0.63 feet high. Black bass are slow to fair on Texas rigged worms, shakyheads and jigs. Crappie are fair on split rigged live minnows and jigs. White bass are fair on slabs and live shad. Blue catfish are fair on cut and live bait.

SWEETWATER: Water stained; 75-82 degrees; 0.09 feet high. This lake is currently experiencing a fish kill due to golden alga. Biologists are monitoring the situation and will post updates as they become available. Fish populations have been substantially reduced by the golden alga blooms.

WHITE RIVER: Water stained; 77-82 degrees; 19.78 feet low. Black bass are slow to fair on spinnerbaits, Texas rigs and crankbaits. Crappie are fair on split shot rigged live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on prepared bait.

COASTAL

NORTH SABINE: Trout are good under slicks and birds on soft plastics. Redfish are good under rafts of shad on topwaters. Redfish are good in the marsh on small topwaters.

SOUTH SABINE: Trout are fair to good under birds and pods of shad. Trout are good at the jetty on live bait and topwaters. Trout are good at the rigs on live mullet.

BOLIVAR: Trout are good on the outgoing tide at Rollover Pass on soft plastics and mullet. Redfish are good in the marsh with higher tides.

TRINITY BAY: Trout are fair for drifters working pods of shad and mullet on soft plastics. Redfish are good along the north shoreline on gold spoons and Gulps with high tides. Trout are fair to good on shrimp near the Spillway.

EAST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are good on the south shoreline on topwaters and soft plastics. Trout are fair to good on the shell adjacent to the channel on live bait. Sand trout are showing along the channel.

WEST GALVESTON BAY: Trout are fair to good along the channel on soft plastics and croakers. Sheepshead, redfish and black drum are good at the jetty on shrimp and crabs. Offshore is good for kingfish, ling and dolphin. Tarpon are fair to good along the beachfront.

TEXAS CITY: Trout are fair to good on the reefs and in the channel on live shrimp and croakers. Redfish and sand trout are fair to good in Moses Lake and Dickinson Bayou on shrimp.

FREEPORT: Trout are good at San Luis Pass on shrimp, topwaters and soft plastics. Trout, redfish, sand trout and sheepshead are good on live shrimp on the reefs in Christmas Bay.

EAST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout and sand trout are good for drifters on live shrimp over mid-bay reefs and shell and mud humps. Trout and redfish are good over mud on the east end and soft plastics and topwaters.

WEST MATAGORDA BAY: Trout are fair over sand and grass humps on soft plastics and topwaters. Redfish and black drum are fair to good at Shell Island on live shrimp.

PORT O'CONNOR: Trout and redfish are good at the jetty on live bait. Trout and redfish are fair to good on topwaters and live bait over sand, grass and shell in San Antonio Bay. Trout and redfish are fair for drifters working the back lakes with live shrimp and small topwaters.

ROCKPORT: Trout are fair over grass while drifting with live shrimp and Gulps. Redfish are good on piggy perch and shrimp around Mud Island and Estes Flats.

PORT ARANSAS: Trout, redfish and sheepshead are fair to good at the jetty on shrimp and croakers. Redfish are good on the East Flats on Gulps. Offshore is good for dolphin, ling, kingfish and tuna.

CORPUS CHRISTI: Trout are good in Oso and Nueces bats for waders tossing small Super Spooks and MirrOlures. Trout are fair to good on the edge of the spoils on piggy perch, Gulps and live shrimp. Redfish are good in the potholes on shrimp and piggies.

BAFFIN BAY: Trout are good on topwaters and soft plastics around deep rocks and grass. Trout are fair to good on soft plastics under a popping cork on the grass in the Land Cut. Redfish have been found on the flats with higher tides.

PORT MANSFIELD: Trout are good on topwaters on the edge of the channel and around sand and grass. Redfish are good on the sand on small topwaters and Gulps.

SOUTH PADRE: Trout are good while drifting sand and grass potholes on soft plastics. Redfish are good on the flats in South Bay on live bait and plastics. Snook are good in the Ship Channel on DOA Shrimp and live shrimp.

PORT ISABEL: Trout are good on sand and grass on Gulps, DOA Shrimp and topwaters. Redfish are good on the Gas Well Flats on shrimp under a cork and small topwaters.
