LASARA – The Texas Rangers are investigating a double homicide in Lasara.

Authorities responded to a home on County Road 2800, east of FM 88 Monday afternoon where they found two bodies.

The victims were identified as Donald and Sandra Durbin.

Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence said multiple agencies were called in due to his department’s lack of manpower.

“We got to reach for help wherever we can get it. With the previous district attorney – that district attorney wouldn’t let their DA investigators help on cases because they might end up being a witness and wouldn’t be available for court,” he said. “But this district attorney has allowed her investigators to work side-by-side with us and that helps as well.”

The Department of Public Safety and Willacy County Sheriff’s deputies continue combing through the scene.

Spence said autopsies have been ordered for both victims.

Investigators have not released more information about the ongoing investigation.
