The Greyhounds’ Go-To Guy
SAN BENITO – Every team needs a go-to guy. For San Benito that’s been Tyrone Harper. The senior has accounted for over 2,000 yards from scrimmage this season. His biggest impact coming out of the backfield with over 1,500 yards gained.
“The atmosphere, the community, the offensive line, all my teammates, coaches, and all the support I have here,” said Harper.
“His impact is that he’s doing great,” said junior offensive lineman Hector Garza. “We get a lot of hard work from him so he can be a good running back.”
The best players shine brightest on the biggest stage. Harper scored four touchdowns in Friday’s win helping the Hounds get back to the regional round for the second time in three years.
“Everything around us is just crazy,” said Harper. “Just crazy all around. We just have to focus on what we have to do.”
Harper tells CHANNEL 5 SPORTS he hopes to play at the next level. For now, he’s focused on the task at hand.
The Greyhounds head to Corpus Christi Friday night where they’ll play O’Connor at Buc Stadium.
