LOS FRESNOS – The Los Fresnos swim team hopes to make a big splash in Austin this week. Five Falcons are heading to the state meet. Only one, junior Luis Osuna, made it last year.

“The best feeling in the world,” said Osuna. “I wanted to go state with my teammates. Doing it with my best friends and my family is something I can’t replace.”

Last year Osuna compete in one event. This year, he’ll hit the pool in four: two relays and two individual races.

“If you give your best in practice, everything else will come out good,” said Osuna. “The results are going to be amazing and this is just unbelievable.”

The lone girl from Los Fresnos going to Austin is Sarah Villarreal. She also plays volleyball, which means she couldn’t focus on swimming for over three months.

“I really wanted it,” said Villarreal. “I think that time where I didn’t get to do, this year I really pushed myself so I could really make it on my own.”
