HARLINGEN - Multiple fire agencies are working to put out a blaze in Harlingen, Thursday evening.

Cameron County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Hushen tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS some tires caught fire near Loop 499 and 7th Street.

Hushen says it is the site of an old junk yard filled with tires.

San Benito Fire Chief Raul Zuniga says San Bentio, La Feria and Harlingen Fire Departments are on scene.

Harlingen Police Officer Larry Moore says several streets in the area are blocked off:

     - N. Loop 499 and 13th St. blocked off

     - E. Vinson Ave. and 7th street

     - E. Vinson Ave. and Mark Circle

Moore urges drivers to focus on the road, he says many onlookers are stopping to look at the scene. He says stopping or driving slowly interferes with emergency crews on scene.

We're working to get more information about the fire.
