EDINBURG - The Toros are in an upbeat mood heading into tomorrow's game against Swope Park. Last time out, the Toros snapped a two-game losing streak by shutting out Colorado Springs 1-0.

“Going into this game, we're going to stay focused and compact and hopefully go for the three points, but for sure try to stay at zero in the back," said forward Ruben Luna. "We did that. We created an opportunity. We won 1-0. The team is motivated. We're excited to go play over there at Swope Park."

The victory was earned without ever-present midfielder Charlie Ward, who was signed by the Houston Dynamo.

"I think we're going to have to adjust," says midfielder TJ Casner. "I don't think we have someone who can do his job as well as he does it. But I think our other players are going to have to show more of what they have."

Defender Kai Greene added, "It's just a matter of how much time you put on the field and how hard you work in training and how you perform during the games, so everybody will have the shot if they put the work in, so it's good to see one of our players going up there to the next level."

RGV FC defeated Swope Park 1-0 in May. Coach Junior Gonzalez said another strong defensive display will be crucial against a Swope Park team that has won four of its last five games.

"They're on a bit of a run right now," said the coach. "They have some good attacking players. They like to play and move the ball well. We're just going to focus on defense and focus on hopefully getting a shutout."
