MCALLEN – First Baptist pastors in the Rio Grande Valley are responding to the shooting at Sutherland Springs Baptist Church.

McAllen First Baptist Church Pastor Shannon Talley said the McAllen church and the Sutherland Springs are both part of the Southern Baptists of Texas churches.

Talley plans to have an increase in security.

He also plans to put new procedures in place for church members with concealed handgun carrying licenses.

“We are putting that into place so our concealed carry people know each other, but we are also setting things up to where their located strategically throughout the auditorium in the services that we have," said Talley.

Talley said the church plans to do anything to help.

They are working on attending the funerals and memorials services.
