Valley lawmaker part of new border security committee
A Valley lawmaker is one of three state senators selected to be part of a new border security committee.
Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa is the lone Democrat in the committee.
“We want to make sure the money that's appropriate by the state of Texas, our taxpayer’s hard-earned money, is well spent,” Hinojosa said. “We want accountability and transparency and focus on some of the issues that being placed on the Texas National Guard, our DPS officers and other state agencies."
Hinojosa says he's against the construction of a border wall - but he also says he understands the need for protection against criminal activity
