RIO GRANDE VALLEY--A valley pilot is helping out those affected by recent hurricanes.

Tomas Perez Jr. flew to areas devastated by hurricanes to deliver supplies. On October 1st, he made his first cargo flight to Puerto Rico. On Monday, he'll go to Turks and Caicos.

Perez said seeing the damage first hand was eye opening. Since the airport didn't have electricity, they had to land during the day.

"At the airport, we could see quite a few of the buildings were damaged, with wind damage," Perez saud,

Perez said the cargo plane he flew down there was full of basic necessities like generators and first aid kits.

"General medical stuff...hygiene stuff, I know there were 3 pallets from Walgreens pharmacy, water, a variety of things," he said.

Perez said people impacted by the hurricanes still need a lot of help. He'll be doing these flights for weeks to come.
