WESLACO – A Rio Grande Valley resident, who is also a Venezuela native, is speaking out about the political crisis in her homeland.

Liviania Zavala migrated to the U.S. in the 1990s and says she hasn’t made a visit due to the violence.

She brought her 82-year-old mother into the U.S. this past year and it’s been a difficult adjustment.

She says her mother faced challenges in obtaining proper resources, such as food and medicine, due to the government crisis.
