Victim in Deadly Brownsville Crash Identified
BROWNSVILLE – Law enforcement agencies in Brownsville are continuing their investigation into a fatal accident that happened Wednesday night.
Authorities identified the driver as 22-year-old Romario Samaniego.
Fire officials said Samaniego crashed his black Hyundai SUV into a drainage ditch near Boca Chica Blvd. and Medford Ave. around 7:30 p.m. They spent about an hour searching the area.
Police said he was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
"At this point there doesn't seem to be any other vehicle involved," said Brownsville police spokesman JJ Trevino. "There was an autopsy ordered, to do the toxicology on the victim itself."
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
