WESLACO – A Rio Grande Valley man says he’s still recovering from the two floods this year.

Weslaco resident Rey Barbosa says he wants to know if his county or the state can do anything to prevent future flooding problems at his home on Paisano Lane.

He says he spent the $7,000 he received from the Federal Emergency Management Agency following the June floods but never got to complete repairs by the time the September floods hit.

But Barbosa's major concern is his wife, Manuela, who’s confined to a wheelchair.

KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey reached out to the Hidalgo County Emergency Management coordinator to see how they can help in his case.

Ricardo Saldana says if Barbosa needs more funding, he has a right to appeal with FEMA. He adds he’s looking forward to work with him and provide guidance in the process.
