KRGV TV Channel 5 News (ABC) in the Rio Grande Valley (McAllen-Weslaco-Brownsville) market is looking for a Digital Content Producer to join the largest news operation in South Texas.

Job Description

KRGV-TV Channel 5 News in the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, is seeking a journalist with strong writing skills and social media savvy to join its digital team. Members of the digital team report, write and edit news stories for KRGV.com. They also post news and information to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms in English and Spanish. Digital producers are an integral part of the newsroom. They work closely with reporters, photographers, producers, editors and newsroom management throughout the day to coordinate news coverage including live reports during breaking news. Digital producers also work independently, generating story ideas and breaking news on all platforms. The job requires strong writing skills, knowledge of Associated Press style writing and solid news judgment. This position is Full Time.

Qualifications

  • · An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in journalism or at least two years of newsroom experience.
  • · Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms.
  • · Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • · Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
  • · Video editing skills are a plus.
  • · Ability to work independently.
