KRGV-TV located in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas has the following opening:

SPANISH LANGUAGE NEWS PRODUCER for our Spanish newscasts on Noticias RGV on our digital channel 5.2 broadcasting news 7 days a week.

 

KRGV is the broadcast home for ABC (channel 5.1) and Noticias RGV (channel 5.2) broadcasting over 60+ hours of news a week as the largest news operation in South Texas.

 

The McAllen-Brownsville area is the 11th largest Hispanic market in the country. The market is over 93% Hispanic.

 

The right candidate should be able to create compelling newscasts for a large Spanish speaking audience. Noticias RGV broadcasts 33 hours of news every week, and you will be working a Monday-Friday schedule as well as filling in for other shows as needed.

This is a Full-Time position

 

Duties

-  The Spanish newscast producer is responsible for story placement, teases, graphics, writing, timing and all other editorial and production elements
Work with directors and on-air talent for the production of the newscast
- Contribute story ideas invite guests for live interviews and to participate actively in coverage of special news programs.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, must be fluent in Spanish language writer and speaker.  
- Write and copy edit news stories in Spanish for on-air broadcasting and digital platforms.
- Develop content through social listening and independent sources.
- Skillfully use social media and digital tools to research, discover and distribute content.
- Monitor wire services and CNN news feeds
- Research for facts and credibility.
- Work with crews in the field to help create great news stories.
- Use creative production techniques such as including graphics and new forms of  media to enhance stories.

 

Requirements
- BA/BS preferred in Journalism/Mass Communications or equivalent experience.
- At least one year Spanish language television news work experience as a writer, reporter or producer.
