Trey Serna
Trey Serna is an experienced anchor, producer, writer and digital content creator. Trey's originally from and grew up in Harlingen, where he attended Harlingen High School. He went on to college at UTPA, now re-named UTRGV. He graduated from the university Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Communications - Journalism. Trey even began his TV news career right here at CHANNEL 5 NEWS in 2008 as a producer. In 2010, Trey's career took him to Houston where he worked a producer for the CW affiliate. Trey was part of a team that produced the first-ever anchor-less newscast in Houston. He worked his way up the ranks to Senior and Supervising Producer, before making the jump in front of the camera as a reporter and co-anchor of a three-hour morning show. Trey is happily married to his husband Johnny. They are both dog dads to two very spoiled fur babies, Cooper and Charlie. When Trey’s not working or spending time with his family, he enjoys winding down with a good TV show or documentary. Trey’s also an avid runner and enjoys putting in some miles outdoors, but you can find him on a treadmill when the Valley heat is a little too much. Trey is happy to be back in the Valley, and part of the CHANNEL 5 NEWS anchor team. You can catch him every morning from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on CHANNEL 5 NEWS This Morning.
