7 Years of Thanksgiving Meal Distribution

MCALLEN – A joint effort by several organizations helped make Thanksgiving possible to people who may not have had a hot meal otherwise.

It is the seventh year for Feast of Sharing. Around 400 plates of food were prepared and distributed throughout Hidalgo County.

That included families who may be home bound, homeless and even veterans, who may not have the means to celebrate the holiday.

“When you have five or six meals to a family that has nothing and just the look in their eyes and the tears that they get thinking they may have something to eat, it’s well worth all the time and effort we put into it,” said Gary Kintigh, commander for the Civil Air Patrol Cadets, Texas 241.

The food was prepared and donated by the Salvation Army.

Kintigh expressed gratitude to the volunteers, such as the Civil Air Patrol Cadets, who filled the plates and handed them out in the community.
