Amateur Radio Operators Practice Natural Disaster Readiness
WESLACO - During natural disasters cell service, land lines and wifi can become unavailable.
HAM radio operator Larry Warner tested their natural disaster readiness Satruday.
Larry Warner remembers getting called communicate during Hurricane Dolly, he says "we've cooperated before when we have hurricanes and we've been able to set up an independent, completely independent communications system that does not rely on commercial power."
The group teams up with Valley emergency management teams to send out important information when there is no other way.
