BPUB Warns Customers about People Posing as Employees
BROWNSVILLE – The Brownsville Public Utilities Board is warning utility customers about people claiming to work for or on behalf of BPUB asking residents for access to their property.
According to reports, a person posing as a BPUB employee tells the property owner that access is needed to check the water quality at the residence.
Employees only go for water quality tests when someone at the residence requests it. In addition, any BPUB employee requesting access to a resident’s property will be dressed in a BPUB uniform with a BPUB photo ID.
If customers have any doubts about who the person is, they should look for a BPUB uniform and vehicle, and request to see a BPUB photo ID. They can also call BPUB to verify who the person is and what needs to be done at that property.
Customers have been warned about this before, usually involving someone posing as a BPUB employee on the phone.
