Coahuila School Shooting Leaves Two Dead

COAHUILA, MEXICO - A fatal school shooting left two people dead in the Mexican border state of Coahuila. 

Governor of Coahuila Miguel Angel Riquelmene announced it happened in Torreón, at a private elementary school where a sixth grade student opened fire against teachers and students Friday morning. 

The eleven year-old student identified only as Jose took his life on school grounds after killing at least one teacher. The teacher was identified as María Medina, 50. Five other students and a teacher of physical education were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. 

During a press conference, the governor said there is an ongoing investigation of the student's home. They suspect his actions were influenced by a video game. Prior to the shooting, the shooter reportedly told his friends "today is the day."

The investigation continues.
