DSHS pushes for people to get vaccinated
The Texas Department of State Health Services continues to make an all-out effort to get more people in the community vaccinated against COVID-19.
COVID vaccines were offered at the Walmart Supercenter in McAllen located on the 2800 block of West Nolana Ave.
First doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were being administered at that location where information was also shared on the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine.
"We still don't have a magic pill. We still don't have a magic treatment so people can still die and the fact of the matter is, we do have protection, but with vaccination,” DHSH Regional Health Director Dr. Emily Prot said.
Those living in Cameron County will have a chance to receive their first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday, May 12 at the Walmart Supercenter on Ruben Torres Boulevard in Brownsville as DHSH will hold a similar pop vaccine distribution event.
