Edcouch Residents on Alert Due to Threat of Rising Waters
NEAR EDCOUCH – Families living near an Edcouch canal are being threatened by rising waters.
A resident tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS they were asked to evacuate Thursday night. However, Edcouch Mayor Eddy Gonzalez says the order to vacate homes was not given.
He says only an alert was issued due to the amount of water coming from upper Rio Grande Valley cities.
Despite this, he says he would rather people be safe than stuck in their homes if the canal overflows.
