Firefighters Face Challenges after Car Crashes into Power Line, Sparks Fire
EDINBURG – Many residents in Edinburg experienced a major power outage after a car knocked down a primary power line and sparked a fire.
A driver crashed into a power line near Doolittle and Mile 17 1/2 in Edinburg.
At the scene, firefighters could not use water due to the electrical fire that ignited. They had to let the grass fire burn out.
“And then you just leave the power lines hot until they can come in and discontinue the service to those particular lines,” says Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snider.
KRGV’s Carolina Cruz reports from the scene with the details.
The power has already been restored.
