WESLACO - Weslaco kicked a late field goal to knock off rival Weslaco East in 31-6A play in Friday's Game of the Week. The 23-21 win leaves the two teams tied for second place in the district, one game back of unbeaten Vela. The Wildcats could still play district spoiler and force a title tie with an upset win at Vela in week 11. Mission handed PSJA its first 30-6A district blemish. The Eagles beat the Bears 24-7. In 32-6A, Hanna clinched a share of the district title with a 23-13 win at Los Fresnos. Mission Veterans' 55-38 win over Palmview coupled with Brownsville Veterans' 21-7 win over Pace gave the Patriots the outright 16-5A, Division 1 title with one week to go. Mission Vets has no losses in district. Pace and Brownsville Veterans both have two. Sharyland knocked off Valley View 14-10 to claim the outright 16-5A, Division 2 title.
