Gov. Abbott Signs Request for Federal Disaster Assistance for Cameron, Hidalgo Co.
WESLACO – Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is in the Rio Grande Valley to assess flood-damaged areas.
On Tuesday, he signed a request for a federal disaster declaration for the Cameron and Hidalgo counties.
The governor met with city and county leaders at the emergency operations center in Edinburg.
Recent record rainfall dropped as much as 15 inches in some areas. Some cities are still dealing with floodwaters.
Last week, he declared a state of emergency for six Texas counties, including Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy counties.
