Harlingen Police Looking for Theft Suspects
UPDATE: The theft suspect was positively identified.
HARLINGEN--Harlingen police is looking for some theft suspects.
The alleged thieves contacted the victim online. Harlingen police says the victim used the social media site "let go" to purchase a gaming system. He was supposed to meet the suspects Saturday night on the 5900 block of West Business 83. But instead of selling the item, the suspects allegedly took the victim's money and fled in a black Pontiac G-6.
Harlingen police says a similar incident also occurred Saturday night at 3rd and Grant.
There are ways to protect yourself from thefts like these.
The Harlingen police department has three parking spots in front of the police department designated for people meeting to do online exchanges. The spots are well lit and constantly under video surveillance.
Police recommend using the safe zones between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
