Hidalgo ISD step up to provide meal kits for families
HIDALGO – Several school kitchens remain in operation across the Rio Grande Valley providing meals to children in the district.
At Hidalgo Independent School District, meal pickup services have been in place since orders to close schools were issued due to the coronavirus. Now, every Tuesday, the district hands out 1,500 meal kits, each complete with 10 meals for each child under the age of 18.
Under other orders, some parents are left without work and appreciate districts, such Hidalgo ISD, for helping put food on the table.
