HOV: Managing Diabetes While Sleeping
SAN JUAN – A Rio Grande Valley man says he deals with diabetes even when he sleeps.
Jose Martinez tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS he would stop breathing up to 115 times in a night.
"The doctor said it was the worst case he had ever seen in 15 years,” he explains.
KRGV’s Daisy Martinez spoke with Martinez. He explains he is living with diabetes, high-blood pressure and severe sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea isn’t exclusive to diabetics – it’s correlated to obesity.
He says the key is to get educated about it; he adds having a support system is important in controlling diabetes.
