WESLACO – An Elsa man, who is accused of killing his father, is being held on a $2 million bond.

Joseph Robert Nocar received the bond after being charged with murder.

The judge explained why he issued such a high bond.

"I know bond isn't supposed to be a form of punishment, but I do believe it should be a form of inconvenience so you don't repeat what you're (doing), if you're a habitual offender. That's what I base those bonds on,” says Judge Jason Pena.

In order to be released, Nocar would have to pay $200,000 to make bail.
