Landowners Not Budging after Gov’t Sends Letters to Survey Land
EDINBURG – A local man who’s been able to trace his heritage in the Rio Grande Valley to the mid-1800s says he will not give in so easy to the border wall.
Ramiro Ramirez tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS he recently received a letter from the government saying they want to access his family’s property to conduct surveys.
He says he and others have decided to fight it.
“To us, this is sacred property. You just don’t do that,” he says.
KRGV’s Christian von Preysing learned others, including the city of Laredo, have received such letters.
