Local Graffiti Artists Changing the Perspective of the Medium
MCALLEN – To some the word “graffiti” implies vandalism, but others consider it to be the new art.
“Nowadays graffiti is a respected art form that is coming off the streets to the homes, to galleries and clothing. So, now graffiti has escalated to a different level,” said Lupe Hernandez.
Hernandez is an artist in residence at Hinovations Art Gallery on Laurel Avenue in McAllen. The gallery’s new exhibit is graffiti art.
The artwork on display is from numerous artists from the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas and beyond.
