Local Police Dept. Impacted by Increase in Stash Houses
ESCOBARES – An increase in immigration stash house raids is putting a damper on small town resources.
The Escobares Police Department isn’t allowing their size to get in the way of public safety.
Last week, the department busted a stash house where 24 people were in the country illegally.
KRGV’s Trason Bragg spoke with the city’s mayor and municipal judge, Noel Escobar, who says over-coming this hurdle is a daily struggle.
He explains even teachers and bus drivers are helping them to protect their community.
“Those people work with us on their days off on their time off, on weekends. They certainly do help augment our police work here,” says Escobar.
