Local Rabbi Spreads Positive Message for Jewish Community
MCALLEN – An attack on a synagogue near San Diego hit close to home for a Rio Grande Valley rabbi.
The attack in California took the life of one woman and left three others injured.
Local rabbi Ashesh Hecht says he knows the rabbi at the California synagogue, Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein.
"We're a family; we're one big family so it hits us straight in our hearts," says Rabbi Hecht.
He says he’s frustrated with another senseless attack on the Jewish community.
“You don't kill innocent people even though you may not like their faith or you may not understand completely what they stand for," says Rabbi Hecht.
He believes the first response to evil should be to do more good; his message to the Jewish community is one of unity.
