Local School District Police Training for Active Shooter Threats
WESLACO – Several school district police departments are gearing up in case of the threat of an active shooter.
McAllen ISD, La Joya ISD, Donna ISD and Edinburg CISD are preparing for potential threats.
KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez spoke with the Edinburg CISD Police Department Ricardo Perez Jr. about these efforts.
“The best way to prepare is to train,” says Perez. “We want to be prepared for any type of active shooter.”
Perez says they are the only school district in South Texas with an active SWAT team.
