The call was placed Friday afternoon and the McAllen Fire Department responded to the 6200 block of South 42nd Street.
The GE plant manager said they called the fire department concerning some equipment. A Hazmat team was sent to the scene.
There were no evacuations and no reported injuries.
After a short assessment, all went back to normal.
“Key think and the reason that we contacted them, making sure that all the employees were okay. Nobody was concerned and making sure we had the right community for the employees,” plant manager Horacio Repetto said.
The manager said they made the call out of precaution and wanted to be sure everyone was safe.
