MONTE ALTO – A Monte Alto family is dealing with the aftermath of Monday’s storm.

Elizabeth Espinoza says she was home Monday when the rain came pouring down and blew part of their roof off.

"It started to rain and then the rain got stronger and stronger. The wind was blowing strong. The trailer home kept moving and moving," she says.

Espinoza says she immediately grabbed her two daughters.

She worries for her youngest daughter Regina, who has a heart condition; without power the mobile home gets hotter, making it difficult for her to breathe.

"I lost a son. He drowned. I wouldn't want to go through that again; my daughters drowning or myself," says Espinoza.

Emergency Management Coordinator for Hidalgo County, Ricardo Saldana, says the neighborhood Ezpinoza lives in was one of the hardest hit.

"We've seen a lot of wind damage and severe flooding especially in the east side of the county along La Villa, Monte Alto, Edcouch-Elsa area and the Mercedes area were significantly impacted," says Saldana.
