National Weather Service to hold Weather Fest to Prepare Residents for Future Flooding

BROWNSVILLE- The National Weather Service is teaming up with emergency managers, the SWAT team and first responders to help residents prepare for the next flood disaster.

Weather Fest will be held Saturday, March 23.

Meteorologists will walk residents through what to expect when it comes to flood watches and warnings.

They'll also stress the importance of social media in an emergency.

Barry Goldsmith with the National Weather Service tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS it doesn't take a named storm to cause chaos in the valley.

Swift water rescue boats and water pumps will also be on display.
