New State Law Allowing Guns on School Grounds Worries Valley Parents
WESLACO – Amid two Texas mass shootings investigations, a new state law prohibits school districts from regulating those who take guns to school.
The new law applies to public schools or open-enrollment charter schools in Texas.
An attorney representing around 20 Rio Grande Valley school districts says now it’s legal for any person who holds a license to carry to transport or store any firearm or ammunition inside a locked car on school grounds.
Once a firearm is visible in a school building, it becomes a criminal offense.
