Oilfield Workers Trapped in Floodwaters in Dimmit Co.

NEAR CARRIZO SPRINGS – Hundreds of oilfield workers were rescued after being trapped in floodwaters inside their vehicles in Dimmit County.

According to the Dimmit County Sheriff's Office, everyone who was stranded in high water has been rescued on Cochina Ranch off Diamond H Road. We learned a total of 170 people, believed to be mostly oilfield employees, have been rescued. 

Crews responded to a ranch on Diamond H. Road early Monday. About 100 people suspected to be oilfield workers were trapped in their vehicles.

At around 12:30 p.m., another 150 people were reported trapped along County Road 468.

Emergency crews La Salle and Dimmit counties are on the scene.

Laredo Sector Border Patrol told CHANNEL 5 NEWS they also sent out agents to assist, as well as airboats, their SOD and BORSTAR teams.

Rescue efforts are still ongoing at the Vesper Ranch, which is off FM 468.  

A portion of Central Texas, including Dimmit County, is under a flash flood watch and is expected to receive more heavy rain.
