Police Urge Families to Keep an Eye on Elderly Relatives
UPDATE (7/24/17): Police are emphasizing the importance of keeping an eye on elderly relatives.
Alejandro M. Avila was found near Mercedes underneath a flood-way after he went missing over the weekend. He was last seen Saturday morning on the 3600 block of Jade Drive.
Police said Avila has diabetes, high blood pressure and is in the early stages of Alzheimer's. Weslaco Police Department Lt. Jose Cano explained ways to check up on the welfare of an elderly relative.
"Checking on the person, making sure that everything is comfortable for him, making sure his medication are up-to-date," he said.
Cano said Avila was hospitalized for dehydration. He remains in good condition.
