Puerto Rico Natives Helping Valley Flood Victims
MCALLEN – The destruction that still plagues Puerto Rico isn’t keeping two women from helping others.
Puerto Ricans employed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency continue to help flood victims in disaster recovery centers throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Rossyveth Rey-Berrios, a FEMA representative, says her home was also destroyed by Hurricane Maria. She says dealing with the aftermath as a victim has helped her understand others going through similar predicaments.
KRGV’s John Paul Barajas learned there are at least 23 other employees from Puerto Rico assisting in the Valley.
FEMA wants to remind the public all disaster recovery centers will close on Sept. 4.
