San Benito shooting suspect arrested at B&M International Bridge

A man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in San Benito has been arrested at the B&M International Bridge in Brownsville, according to San Benito Police Chief Mario Perea.
As previously reported, Miguel Monrreal, 23, of Los Fresnos, is accused of shooting a man and a woman following an altercation.
Monrreal was arrested Saturday at around 9 p.m.
Perea said the two victims were taken to a local hospital, where the man was pronounced dead, and the woman is listed in critical condition.
San Benito police received a 911 call at around 10:34 p.m. Friday in reference to shots fired at the 900 block of East Stenger Street, according to Perea.
Perea said investigators believe the shooting occurred after a group of individuals who were spending time together got into a verbal and physical altercation.
After the shooting, Monrreal fled the area on foot, according to Perea.
Monrreal is pending arraignment.
