State Agency Conducting Safety Initiative on Memorial Day Weekend
WESLACO – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be conducting a safety initiative on Memorial Day weekend called ‘Operation Dry Water’.
Officers will be checking safety equipment and boat registration. They will also make sure people aren’t driving boats while intoxicated.
Captain James Dunks with the TPWD says the number of fatalities that occurred on the water increased by almost 30 percent last year.
