State Health Officials Warn about Cyclospora Illness

WESLACO – State health officials are warning about an illness called cyclospora.

Six cases have been reported in Hidalgo County and one in Starr County, with a total of 74 cases reported statewide.

According to the CDC, Cyclosporiasis is an intestinal illness. People get sick after consuming food or water that’s been contaminated by the microscopic parasite.

Symptoms include diarrhea, loss of appetite and fatigue. Talk to your doctor if you are experiencing these symptoms.
